Masque of Orpheus and the Animals

Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 8 pm

Doors open at 6:45 pm

Alix Goolden Hall, 907 Pandora at Quadra

Viols blend with recorders in 17th century English music for "broken consort." The second half of the program recreates a masque. Animations by students at the Utrecht Academy of the Arts illustrate the story of Orpheus and the animals as the musicians interpret the story musically.

"charming... immaculate musicianship and ensemble playing." — Birmingham Post
